LMC is pleased to announce the presentation of an LMC Award of Appreciation to UD student Anne Fitz for the design of the new LMC Web Site. "This new design is a quantum leap forward for LMC and our efforts to reach and inspire the next generation of conservation along the Little Miami National Wild & Scenic River", stated LMC Executive Eric B. Partee. The "double eagle" award was announced at the LMC Conservation Dinner on April 17, 2018 and formally presented to Ms. Fitz at the UD campus offices of the Rivers Institute. A new study by The Nature Conservancy has identified a series of landscapes across Ohio that are predicted to withstand the growing impacts of climate change and help ensure nature’s survival.

As droughts, rising temperatures and other climate impacts threaten to destabilize natural areas across the United States and around the world, scientists believe these resilient landscapes will continue to serve as habitat to a wide variety of plants and animals while also providing drinking water, fertile soil and other important natural services that people rely upon.

Over 200 friends and river supporters gathered at the LMC 2018 River Conservation Dinner on April 17th at the Marriott NE in Mason OH.  "Panther in the Sky" author James Alexander Thom addressed the crowd as this year's keynote speaker describing the life and time of the great Shawnee leader Tecumseh who was born along the Little Miami 250 years ago in 1768.  The event also celebrated the 50th anniversaries of the founding of the Ohio Scenic Rivers and National Wild & Scenic Rivers programs.  Dark Rain & James Alexander Thom, and the Bob & June Morgan Family received the LMC 2018 Little Miami Legacy Awards.  Additional awards of appreciation were given to numerous people who had made...

Bob Morgan, age 85, long time resident of Warren County, Ohio, died peacefully on Tuesday April 2, 2018 surrounded by his sons and other family members. Born in Cincinnati, OH, Bob was the oldest of Robert and Florence (Holzhaus) Morgan’s 6 children. Bob graduated from Western Hills High School in 1952. He married his high school sweetheart, June (Dugger) Morgan, on September 4, 1954 when they were both students at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Over the next 10 years, they became the proud parents of 5 sons. Bob taught at Sycamore High School and to supplement his income, he began "Canoe Trails" in the late 50's, a program which took 100's of boys from the Greater Cincinnati area on 2-3 week long campin...

Where do Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons love to build their nests along the Little Miami? In Sycamores! 

LMC is happy to distribute Sycamore trees seed packets to volunteers to plant as they canoe the Little Miami.

Many thanks to the Outdoor Adventure Club of Greater Cincinnati who has taken the lead in planting these seeds!

Dirk and Lori Morgan hosted the Morgan’s Riverside Ramble in support of LMC’s river conservation along the Little Miami on September 24th north of Morrow.  Nine great country bands entertained the crowd. Yellow Springs Brewery served craft beer and helped raised funds for LMC throughout the concert.  Many thanks to Dirk, Lori, Taylor and the wonderful LMC volunteers who made the day a success. Congratulations to Susan of Maineville who won the LMC kayak raffle!  Ramble On!

Devere Burt, Elizabeth Pierce, Eric Partee, Bill Hopple, Buck Niehoff and Thane Maynard joined some 80 friends on June 21, 2017 to help dedicate an LMC 37 acre nature preserve along the Little Miami National Wild & Scenic River near Mariemont.
